Where The Dream Began: My Second Experience At The Majestic in Punta Cana!

In 2014, a spur of the moment choice to book an all-inclusive vacation to the Caribbean with one of my co-workers became a pivotal point in my life. It’s when I fell in love with all-inclusive resorts, when I fell in love with the Caribbean, found a best friend (the other couple we went with) and found a fiancée (my boyfriend at the time proposed to me on this trip)!

Almost 10 years later, I had the opportunity to visit the same resort with a new perspective. Since visiting a LOT more all-inclusive resorts in the past decade, my viewpoint has changed. I’m a little pickier and am more confident on what is good and what is not. I had the privilege of visiting this resort with my mom! The Majestic Mirage is part of a complex which includes the Majestic Elegance & Majestic Colonial. Guests have access to the grounds and entertainment at each resort but can only access the restaurants where they are staying.

Here is my updated perspective on the Majestic Elegance Resort in Punta Cana:

Food: 1/10

Not good. It just simply wasn’t good at all. The best meal we had was eating at Pizza Hut at the airport on our way home. We tried to eat at all the restaurants. They have plenty of options but many of them lacking flavor.

Drinks: 4/10

The drinks were average. Nothing extraordinary. If you ordered one drink at two separate bars, you would probably get two separate drinks. I found my “drink of the trip” (strawberry margarita) and was fine drinking it throughout our time there.

Spa: 7/10

The spa was impressionable! We did the “special” which was 3 separate treatments (scalp massage, full body massage + hydration wrap). It was very affordable ($112 per person) and included guided use of the hydrotherapy circuit. The treatment was ok. The spa grounds were ok, but the service and circuit were a true gem!

Easy to access: 10/10

Punta Cana has direct flights from many major cities and the Majestic is a 20-minute ride from the airport.

Service: 5/10

Nothing to write home about–service was average at best.

Beach: 9/10

The beach is what it’s all about. It was spacious, had the powdery white sand and the water was refreshing and SO turquoise. It was walkable in both directions and there were minimal rocks. The resort offers tons of lounge chairs & cabanas so there was always somewhere to sit. They also had a boardwalk that went from one end of the resort to the other and plenty of beach activities such as volleyball and yoga. There was SOME seaweed most days we were there, but we can’t blame anyone but mother nature!

Pools: 9/10

I love how the pools were a lagoon style and weaved up and down the resort. They had swim up bars and places to access the water from almost any place in the resort.

Entertainment: 8/10

Each resort had a stage with nightly rotating shows. The complex also had a kids club, casino, night club, shopping and pool-side daily entertainment.

Grounds: 6/10

The grounds were clean, well-kept and beautiful. The resort is filled with palm trees!

Rooms: 9/10

The rooms were clean, well-kept, large and newly renovated. We stayed in the mirage- club (adults only) ocean view suite. This is a reminder that even if your room is ocean “view”, it means that you may only be able to see a sliver of the ocean. The way the rooms are situated on the property, they don’t have any ocean “front” rooms. The room had a separate living room & sleeping area, a huge patio with jacuzzi and two separate bathrooms.

Overall, we had a good experience spending time together at this resort. It is a great option if you are looking for the best bang for your budget and/or don’t have huge expectations when it comes to food quality.

A 5 night stay in February is pricing in around $2000/couple before flights are added.
